MX 1 - Season Opener - MotoPark - April 21st
It's finally here and we look to be in for good weather to start the 2024 MX race series at Motopark. This Sunday's MX Series Round1 is brought to you by our own club pro Chad Fleck. Be sure to support him and Creative Rehab if you are in need of custom knee braces or other rehab work at Creative Rehab and Osteopathy. As usual, race registration is always done online and in advance. Be sure to have registered by 7pm on Saturday night (oops, sry)! Remember, the 2023 awards banquet will be held the night before (on Saturday night) for those of you already with tickets.Information on Motopark Practice and Camping:
Motopark is open for practice riders in April from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday thru Monday with the exception of April 21 which is the Steel City race day. Practice fee is $40 per person. Motopark has an annual day ride and family membership fee. This fee is waived for Steel City Rider members for their 2 practice days before their April and August race dates. Annual day ride and family memberships are available to purchase for anyone interested in practicing this season outside of those 2 dates.
Camping is $30 per night for primitive sites. A limited number of service sites @$50 per night are available on a first come first served basis, no reservations are accepted . You pay for your site at the registration desk in the snack bar which opens at 9 a.m. The gates are closed for arrivals at 11 p.m. The snack bar is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday thru Monday.

Memberships Update
For those wondering, membership envelopes will be hitting the mail the week of April 22nd. We incurred another delay, stickers this time. Expect it in the mail mid to late next week. Club track remains closed until after the dozer rebuild week occurs but we expect you'll have your envelope by then.

Be sure to print out Version 3 of the new race day moto schedules (V3 in the bottom left corner). Click the following link or check the "Membership > Schedules" page taking note that Pro's will be back racing 2 moto's to kick off both schedules and there is a small shift in the order of races.

As a fully volunteer-run organization, the most important obligation and responsibility of every Steel City Riders’ member is to complete one mandatory work day per racing season. Work days allow us to safely run events, they keep our membership fees affordable, and they allow members to be active participants in the running of our amazing organization! If you feel you cannot commit to a work day, SCR may not be the club for you.
When registering for a membership, everyone is required to select their preferred work
day from the race/event lists. Families require a work day for each member in their
membership, ages 8 and up (as of January 1st of the calendar year). The work day
selections are first-come, first-served so register early! *Note that all new/first-year
members are required to fulfil their work day at an ‘away’ race track.
A typical work day involves flagging at a race. Flaggers must be 14 years and older.
Parents/guardians of minors, younger than 14, must complete the work day/s for their
child/children.
Flagging Safety Video
Your first work day can be a bit intimidating, but with a little education and training, you
will be ready to complete your day!
It is the sole responsibility of each member to complete their selected work day, or
make arrangements for someone to cover, on their behalf. A responsible person, 14
years and older, who has completed the Flagging Safety Training Video Tutorial, can fill
in for a member. The fill-in does not need to be a member. It is each member’s
responsibility to ensure that they (or their substitute) signs in with the member’s name at
work day registration, to be credited. If a member wishes to send a courtesy email with
the name of who we can expect in their place, that would be appreciated.
Any member who has a no-show on their work day will have their membership
privileges suspended immediately, with no options to renew in the future.
You can’t attend your Work Day?
- Trade your day with a member scheduled on a different day.
- Pay someone. A request on our SCR Facebook pages usually works. **Note:
SCR is not involved in any arrangements made, including pricing or method of
payment. Also note, work days can be 10 hours in length and often require travel
time and costs, so keep it fair.
- As a very last resort, we occasionally have a list of people who will do work days
for a fee. If we have names, we will be happy to share with you.
- DO NOT LEAVE IT TO THE LAST MINUTE TO FIND WORK DAY COVERAGE.
